Welcome to Spring Osteo Clinic

Spring is an osteopath clinic in Surrey Hills. Our patients come to us from all over Melbourne, however, our niche area is the eastern suburbs Melbourne including Ashburton, Balwyn, Blackburn, Box Hill, Burwood, Camberwell, Canterbury, Forest Hill, Hawthorn East, Mont Albert, Oakleigh and Surrey Hills.

Our osteopaths see a wide range of patients including children and adults and we treat an even wider range of pain types from acute to chronic. If you are suffering from back or neck pain, headaches, sports injuries, pregnancy or elderly related pain or stiffness our osteopaths can assist to identify the cause of the problem or injury and develop a safe and effective course of action to relieve, manage and prevent it.

We aim to offer everybody, no matter what your age, shape, pain type or fitness level, the opportunity to spring into life by treating your:

  • Headaches and migraines

Studies show that 75% of the populations suffer one or more headaches each year. Common headaches involve pain in and around the face regions varying from an ‘ache’ to deeper ‘boring’ pain and even ‘pounding’. The pain can be focused around a particular area (ie. sinusitis) or widespread around the head (ie. tension headache). Headaches can also be triggered by other areas including your neck, sinus, eye and jaw. The various components of these types of headaches can be readily addressed through treatment. The Spring osteopaths are well trained to diagnose and manage such problems.

  • Back pain

Up to 80% of Australians suffer back pain at some point in their life. Back pain can be caused by injury, inflammation, tension or spasm of the muscle, ligament, cartilage or bone. Arthritis, muscle strain, osteoporosis, sciatica and stress are common causes. Our osteopaths consider the many factors that can contribute to your back pain and recommend treatment that may include exercise, massage or medication.

  • Neck and shoulder pain

The neck and shoulder are prone to injury. Trauma, poor posture and arthritis are common causes of neck pain and symptoms may include pain, stiffness and muscle weakness. Sitting in front of computers and sedentary occupations can contribute to complex shoulder problems. Treatment depends on the cause, but may include soft tissue massage, mobilisation to stretch tight muscles and other soft tissue structures, mobilisation or manipulation of the joint or specific exercise programs.

  • Sports injuries

Common injuries that our osteopaths treat include ankle strain; groin strain; hamstring strain; knee joint injuries (the ligament, tendons or cartilage can be affected) and stress fractures, particularly in the lower limbs.  The impact of repeated jumping or running on hard surfaces eventually stresses and cracks the bone. Symptoms usually seen with sports injuries include pain, swelling, stiffness and bruising. Treatment depends on the type and severity or the injury. Our osteopaths can assist to rehabilitate the injured site and, depending on the injury, may include exercises to promote strength and flexibility. Returning to sport after injury will depend on our assessment. Two of our osteopaths come from a strong sports background and have a particular interest and expertise in this field.

Other common conditions we treat include:

  • Arthritic pain and stiffness
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Heel and foot pain
  • Post-natal related pain
  • Elderly related pain
  • Computer and desk related pain
  • Whiplash
  • Study strain
  • Sciatica

  • And more

In addition to our osteopathic treatment, we also have a massage therapist and a naturopath available to assist.
