Spring Osteo Clinic (Spring) launches clinical pilates for existing and new patients in the Surrey Hills and surrounding areas. The five-year-old clinic believe their patients will benefit from this additional service to compliment their osteopathic treatments and assist with their on-going health care management and goals.
Clinical pilates is an individually tailored treatment program, designed by osteopath’s trained in clinical pilates, and used to identify and manage the root cause of injury and pain. It is a form of exercise that focuses on posture, proximal (core) stability, balance and coordination, flexibility and breathing. The Spring clinical pilates programs use equipment including a reformer, trapformer, mats and gym balls and can be used in conjunction or in addition to osteopathic treatments.
Using a series of screens and functional tests the Spring instructors aim to determine their patient’s key issues and tailor a clinical pilates program specific to their needs and goals, which aims for optimal results and reduces risk of injury. Spring’s osteopath and DMA clinical pilates trained instructor Dr Kate Foord, says ‘clinical pilates is different to generic or fitness pilates as it is a highly specific program, which differs according to each patients requirements. No two patients program will be the same.’
The clinic aims to cater for everyone, from people needing rehabilitation; pre and post natal women needing to build core stability; the middle-aged requiring improved balance and coordination; and fitness fans needing assistance to build strength and improve muscle activation for improved performance. It may also be used to manage back pain including disc injuries, neck pain and headaches, chronic pain including recurring injuries, postural complaints, hip, knee, ankle, shoulder and elbow pain and more.
As of today, Spring Osteo Clinic will be offering solo and small group clinical pilates programs. To find out more please contact Spring reception on 03 9830 7044 or go to www.springosteo.com.au/pilates
