Date: 6 October 2014
The Nappy Collective campaign collects leftover unused disposable nappies and redistributes them to organisations that support families in crisis or in need.
The organisation consists of a group of mums who found a handful of nappies that their toddlers did not fit into anymore. After considering the options of what to do with only six nappies – pass them onto a friend? Keep them for the next child? Throw them out – they began to wonder if there were other parents out there that also had a handful or even half a box of nappies they were unable to use that could be redistributed to families that desperately needed them. In October 2013, the first Nappy Collective was launched. Since then, the collectives have expanded around Australia with the July 2014 collective totalled 81,468 nappies.
Spring noticed there wasn’t a drop off point in Surrey Hills and offered our clinic to fill the need. We are excited to be part of this campaign as it helps us to give back to the community; it’s a grass roots campaign and it affects the people that work and live among us. Many of our patients are families with young babies and toddlers and we thought this would give them a convenient option to participate in the campaign too as they can simply bring their unused nappies to their next appointment. We also invite the wider Surrey Hills community to use our drop off point.
Spring Osteo Clinic is located at 356 Canterbury Road, Surrey Hills. Nappies can be dropped off from 20 October till 5 November, Monday to Friday 8am-6pm and Saturday 8am-1pm.
