Osteopathy assists Surrey Hills community to spring into life

MEDIA RELEASE

Date: 24 January 2013
Release: Immediate

Since opening its doors three years ago, Spring Osteo Clinic (“Spring”) has assisted people of all ages in the Surrey Hills community to spring into life.

Spring was established in January 2010 due to a gap and need in the Surrey Hills community.  Today, the clinic includes three osteopaths and a massage therapist and has assisted over 1,500 patients to overcome and manage pain at all stages of their life.

“We see a wide range of patients including children and adults and we treat an even wider list of pain types.” says Dr Sam Nevins, Spring Osteopath. “We treat sporting injuries to computer related pain; headaches to ankle aches and pregnancy to elderly related pain.”

Spring’s ultimate goal is to assist the Surrey Hills community and surrounding area to spring into life.  The team seek to offer their patients no matter what their age, shape, fitness level or degree of pain, the opportunity to spring into life by treating back and neck pain, headaches and migraines, sporting injuries, pregnancy pain, elderly related pain and arthritic pain and stiffness.

Dr Nick Harrison, the clinic’s owner, has lived in the area his whole life and knew from a young age that he wanted to help people by working in the medical profession.  Nick’s family has been assisting the community in a medical capacity for three generations. Nick’s grandfather was a GP in Box Hill for over 30 years and his mother continues to work as a Physiotherapist in Balwyn. “I enjoy being part of the community and it’s rewarding to help its members to recover from their pain and return to their life activities” says Dr Harrison, “for some this has been going on the overseas trip they dreamed of; returning to work or participating in Auskick with their kids (or grand kids)”.

The Spring team take a holistic approach to treatments by reviewing their patients direct problem area as well as assessing their whole body and lifestyle. This helps the osteopaths to understand the cause of the problem and find ways for their patients to gain immediate and long-term relief; offer preventative solutions; and equip them with pain management skills.

The osteopaths work with their patient’s muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons using a combination of stretch, massage, pressure point and manipulation techniques.

All osteopaths at Spring have completed a five-year university degree in osteopathy and are fully registered with AHPRA.
